Our Mission
At the Ontario Biomass Producers Co-op (OBPC), we’re turning opportunity into prosperity for Ontario producers. Our mission is to build strong, sustainable biomass supply chains that deliver real economic and environmental benefits, while ensuring fair and profitable returns for our members.
We connect growers with buyers, open doors to emerging markets, champion the biomass industry, and drive innovation through research. Whether it’s cultivating raw materials or fueling the future with sustainable energy and biobased materials, OBPC is here to support Ontario’s producers every step of the way.
Diversified Farm Income
Biomass crops provide an additional source of stable revenue through raw sales or energy processing markets.
Benefits of Biomass
Improved Soil Health
Miscanthus and switchgrass enhance soil quality and prevent erosion by adding vital organic matter over time.
Carbon Sequestration
These perennial crops are highly efficient at capturing carbon and storing it deep within the soil profile.
Renewable Energy
Purpose-grown biomass serves as a sustainable energy source, reducing reliance on conventional fossil fuels.
Innovative Materials
Biomass can replace plastics in landscaping mulch, animal bedding, and fully compostable packaging solutions.
Marginal Land Utility
Switchgrass thrives on land where traditional crops struggle, maximizing the productivity of every farm acre.
